Web Design Consultant/ Consultant Team
Asian Arts Initiative
Philadelphia, PA
The Asian Arts Initiative (www.asianartsinitiative.org) is a
multi-disciplinary community arts center offering performances,
exhibitions, workshops, and training for artists, youth, and adults of
all racial backgrounds who need a space to develop their cultural voice.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Web Design Consultant will be
responsible for implementing Phase One of our Online Initiative with
the fore planning for Phase Two. Phase One will be launched by
September 2008.
The vision of the Online Initiative is to maximize the use of our
website as a tool for information, constituent interaction, and
community building. We envision the website to serve as a forum that
will engage community members to connect with each other and with the
rich diversity of programming at the Asian Arts Initiative. Website
functions will include streaming video, audio clips, on-line interviews
of featured artists, and a searchable, living archive that invites
people to "share your story" about art and community work.
Phase One of our Online Initiative involves designing a website for our
Oral History Project celebrating the Asian Arts Initiative's 15-year
anniversary. The webpage will detail key milestones, artists, and
thinking from the organization's 15-year existence through an
interactive timeline and highlighting excerpts from our Oral History
Project interviews. This project serves as an important resource in
preserving organizational and local history--sharing our vision of
social justice and strategies for social change through the arts, while
simultaneously highlighting a diverse segment of the Philadelphia
community.
Phase Two will be a larger redesign of our website to communicate with
our constituent relations management database (currently in
development).
