The arts and culture community is vibrant and diverse, committed and
vital to creating social impact and change. Partnerships among
community based organizations, funders, service providers, and others
have been central to producing multi-faceted, quality programs for the
communities we serve. We are pleased to recognize the following
partners for their role in making the Asian Arts Initiative a
successful organization:
The Philadelphia Department of Recreation Mural Arts Program (MAP)
is a public art program that works in partnership with community
residents, grassroots organizations, government agencies, educational
institutions, corporations and philanthropies to design and create
murals of enduring value while actively engaging youth in the process.
MAP accomplishes this work through working with communities like Asian Arts Initiative to create murals expressive of different cultures while providing quality educational programming and mentorship opportunities; using the mural design process as a tool of community engagement and community development; and developing professional opportunities for artists as educators.
MAP has partnered with Asian Arts Initiative to implement the City of Philadelphia/Big Picture/Mural Arts Program through our Youth Arts Workshop. Here, MAP provides curriculum, a seasoned instructor (Rodney Camarce), and technical assistance to Asian Arts Initiative to guide our youth in creating murals within their social and cultural context.
