Mobile Cob Oven

Mobile Cob Oven, 2015

As part of Asian Art Initiative's 2015 Pearl Street Micro-Grants, Provisional Island built a fully functional wood fired oven out of cob—a traditional building material made of clay, sand, and straw. Evoking a pre-industrial past and a post-industrial future, the mobile oven served as the center piece of several events throughout the summer.
