Karla Robinson

Karla Robinson is a Bronx-based artist who believes deeply in arts’ ability to transform culture and create community. She uses poetry, facilitation and immersive installation to support people at the intersection of multiple state institutions. Karla has over 15 years of direct service experience in the fields of youth development, special education and arts education and provides customized professional development opportunities for groups of all sizes. She’s worked with all ages, in a variety of academic, community-based, juvenile justice and residential settings. She is currently the Poetry Writer-in-Residence at Bronx Academy of Letters, Lead Facilitator with the Teaching Artist Project and The Laundromat Project Create Change Fellow.

Land Witness is an artistic interpretation borne of poet, Karla Robinson and photographer, Kamal Badhey’s week-long journey visiting and critically engaging with two national landmarks -- Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site and Rohwer War Relocation Center -- as part of the Civil Rights Educator Institute in Arkansas.
