In this poem, the writer reminisces and reflects on his childhood experience growing up in a mixed race household.

As a mixed-race child of the 80’s, Martin Wiley grew up confronting and embracing a world that was as mixed and confused as he was. He found himself surrounded by mouthed beautiful words one minute and screamed hate the next. His current work explores the search for manhood in that time and place. He lives in Philadelphia, working for Project HOME, teaching at community college, being a dad and husband, and finding time (when possible) to write.
