Octavia Butler’s “Kindred”: A Living Movie Trailer Book Group, 2017
Discussion

As part of A More Perfect Union, Matt Kalasky hosted an event in which participants gather to engage Octavia Butler’s 1976 science-fiction classic Kindred. This time-traveling slave narrative is in part propelled by the dynamics of several interracial relationships. This event featured readings from the book and a group discussion. From these discussions the group wrote and performed a five minute literary trailer for the book.
