Soft-cover, zine-style comic

The Gulf is a multimedia graphic novel inspired by my family’s immigrant story. The work includes text, illustration, music, and animation. The title of The Gulf refers to the physical location of the gulf coast of Florida, where I grew up, as well as the idea of division: between adulthood & childhood, parent & child, Vietnamese & American identity. In Chapter 5, I explore my relationship with my name.” -- Nguyen Khoi Nguyen
