Jess Wu
Jess Wu // 小文 (they/them) is a queer artist and zinester from Taipei, Taiwan & now based in Oakland, California. They draw and print to create a visual representation for communities that deserve to be seen. Through Mixed Rice Zines, each project aims to document and celebrate the voices of queer & trans people color, with the hopes of building community and confidence within ourselves.
In J's personal work and play, they value the lessons to be learned from a fearless younger self. We currently live in a time that demands so much, with endless and often unhealthy expectations of what we should be doing, and how we should look. Through music making, skateboarding, drawing, and zine printing, Jess takes the time to learn the process of creation in their own way. And in response, making space for others to explore creativity too.
