Kamal Badhey
Kamal Badhey is an educator, photographer, and documentarian based in New York City. She is a member of the South Asian Women's Creative Collective and the Urban Photographers Association. Her work intersects with ideas of dispersal, diaspora and origin pilgrimages, using photography and the narratives of living and ‘deceased’ spaces and objects to stitch together stories. She has a Masters in Photography and Urban Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Masters in Museum Education from Bank Street College. As a community based educator at Parsons School of Design, Bronx Documentary Center, and the Center for Documentary Studies she creates learning experiences for both adults and youth in the realm of photography, and family history. She was a 2016-2017 Lewis Hine fellow and is currently a part of the Claremont Documentary Project Fellowship, a collaborative project documenting NYCHA housing in the South Bronx.
