Vivian Chang

Vivian Chang (she/her/hers) is the Executive Director of Asian Americans United, a grassroots organization in Philadelphia that builds community leadership to challenge oppression. She stewards historic programs on youth leadership development and cultural preservation, and recently led a campaign to defeat a billionaire-backed arena threatening Philadelphia’s Chinatown.

Vivian previously worked in civic engagement and racial justice, directing labor and community coalition work on voting, redistricting, immigration advocacy, and political engagement. She has led successful AAPI voter outreach campaigns in battleground states to engage thousands of New American Majority voters. In her early career, she worked in federal science policy, and served two terms as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Philadelphia, Pa., and Moline, Ill.

Vivian is dedicated to advancing social and economic justice informed by the collective power of communities. She holds a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University, and a B.S. in Biological Physics and B.A. in Hispanic Studies from Carnegie Mellon University. Vivian lives in Chinatown North, Philadelphia, with her partner. She is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants and grew up in Columbus, Ohio.
