Perry Yung

Perry Yung is an actor/musician who founded the SLANT Performance Group at La MaMa Theater in New York City in 1994. He is best recognized as Father Jun in Justin Lin’s WARRIOR (MAX) and Steven Soderbergh’s The KNICK (Max). Perry made his directorial film debut with Stop Asian Hate Love One Another, which premiered at the Disorient Festival in Eugene, OR. and was nominated for best music video. He is also a trained shakuhachi zen flute craftsman having received numerous grants to study in Japan. Perry first saw Fred Ho and the Afro-Asian American Art Ensemble in San Francisco in 1986. That performance of Not a Chinaman’s Chance put Perry on the path of being an artist activist.
