Why AAI offers Fiscal Sponsorship
1. Advance AAI’s Mission
Alignment of Goals: Fiscal sponsorship allows AAI to support projects that align with its mission in the community.
2. Support Grassroots Initiatives
Access to Funding: Many foundations and donors will only fund 501(c)(3) organizations. Sponsorship allows non-incorporated groups or individuals (like artists or community organizers) to access grant funding and accept tax-deductible donations.
3. Lower Barrier to Entry: It provides a way for new or small projects to begin operating legally and with financial oversight without having to go through the lengthy and costly process of becoming a nonprofit themselves.
4. Strengthen Ecosystem of Change
Capacity Building: Fiscal sponsorship often comes with guidance, administrative help, and technical assistance—helping new projects grow sustainably.
5. Movement Building:
Supporting diverse, community-led efforts strengthens collective action, especially in the arts and social justice sectors.
