Charmaine Lee is a musician and composer who uses vocals, feedback and live processing in her performances to render a sonic uncanny. Lee will perform at Asian Arts Initiative for the closing installment of the yearlong SOUND TYPE Music Festival!
Along with the performance, Charmaine Lee will be joined in conversation by media scholar and musician Daniele Shlomit Sofer. They are the author of Sex Sounds: Vectors of Difference in Electronic Music and a professor of musicology at the University of Dayton. This event will be a participatory program. Attendees are encouraged to write and give feedback in response to questions and prompts provoked by Lee’s performance and Sofer’s interpolation.
